What started out as a homemade fruit snack and muesli for the Garners is becoming one of the most popular products among conscious consumers around the world. From the very first sales in London's Borough market, Southern Alps can now be found in a growing number of stores, delis or coffee shops in a widening number of countries. And Lotte Garner's curiosity and vision is gradually turned into a living dream.
Southern Alps is about the fruit. Not any old kind of fruit, but dried fruit - or rather our very own take on it. In fact, calling it dried fruit is not even close to do it full justice. It is Slow fruit. And it has nothing whatsoever to do with the traditional dried fruit full of the preservatives you're used to.
Slow fruit is fruit grown and dried, as nature would have done herself. We respect nature's lead, her focus on doing things right, not hurrying perfection. In creating our slow fruit we select only the best quality fresh fruit, only when ripe, only when nature is ready, and dry it slowly with slightly warm air.
Drying the fruit this way means there is no need for additives and no need for preservatives. All it takes is magnificent fresh fruit, slightly warm air, a little patience and absolutely nothing else.
