Young & Co's Brewery has reported a 23.8% increase in
pre-tax profit to ?10.8m on sales up 6.6% to ?122.1m for
the year to 29 March.
Its brewing division Wells & Young's, which makes
Bombardier, Young's and Courage ales, had traded in line
with expectations, contributing ?1.7m to the group's
adjusted profits before tax, the company said.
?This was achieved despite the challenging trading
environment, with higher raw material and utility costs
compounded by the poor summer weather,? the brewer
added.
