Cows fed on an organic diet produce healthier milk,
researchers have claimed.
Organic milk contained more antioxidants and vitamins
than milk produced at intensive commercial dairy farms,
with 60% more conjugated linoleic acid, 39% more omega-3
fatty acids and 33% more vitamin E, scientists from the
University of Newcastle found.
?Our work has not looked at the impact on human health,
but I would say organic milk should be better for health
from what we know of the benefits of these good fatty
acids,? said Gillian Butler, livestock project manager
for the University of Newcastle's Nafferton Ecological
Farming Group.
