Morrisons has reported like-for-like sales growth of 7%,
excluding fuel, for the 13 weeks to 4 May.
Total sales during the period rose 8.6% excluding fuel,
or 10.8% including fuel, the supermarket chain said.
The rollout of its new branding across its estate,
including the rebranding of its vehicle fleet, would be
completed by the end of July.
?While the market backdrop remains challenging with
ongoing pressure on commodity and energy costs and weak
consumer confidence, the board is encouraged by the
performance of the business to date,? Morrisons added.
?Performance in the first quarter has been in line with
our expectations and our financial outlook for the
current year remains unchanged.?
