Greene King has reported a 2%
increase in pre-tax profit to ?142m on sales up 5% at
?960.5m for the year to 4 May.
The brewer said its own brands had performed especially
strongly in the take-home market, with Old Speckled Hen
growing 28% in volume in supermarkets and its share of
the category growing by two full percentage points to
11.9%.
Own-brewed volume rose 6%, with Greene King IPA, Old
Speckled Hen and Abbot Ale growing 4%, 9% and 12%
respectively.

and we are not immune to the difficulties this presents
for our market, but we are better placed than many
others, thanks to the resilience and flexibility of our
