Shoppers are continuing to flock to discount supermarkets as food prices rise, according to TNS Worldpanel.

Its grocery market share figures for the 12 weeks to 15 June found Aldi and Lidl clocked up year-on-year sales growth of 21% and 13% respectively, while Aldi took a record 2.9% share of the grocery market.

Frozen food discounters also performed well, with Iceland recording year-on-year sales growth of 12.4%, Farmfoods growth of 13.4% and other freezer centres growth of 9.3%.

The best-performing big four grocery retailer was once again Morrisons, up 8.1%, with Sainsbury's the worst, up 4.3%.
